Biography

Tyler Shane Tesolin is a filmmaker, poet, and researcher whose work navigates poetry, translation, and experimental cinema. Born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, and trained at York University (MA, Cinema and Media Studies), Tesolin has dedicated his practice to research-creation, with artistic output serving as a form of philosophical inquiry.

His cinematic output spans over a decade, highlighted by the experimental documentary Planet Sarajevo, which premiered in the BH program at the 2020 Sarajevo Film Festival. His work has since been exhibited across Canada and Aotearoa New Zealand. Tesolin also contributes to contemporary poetics and theory; he is the author of the experimental manifesto The Poetry of our Future and three collections of poetry, including the forthcoming Barking Under the Sighing Tree.

Currently based in Wellington, New Zealand, Tesolin recently completed his PhD at Victoria University, where he investigated Ezra Pound’s poetics and its relationship to electromagnetic technologies. He currently serves as co-director of the Aotearoa Poetry Film Festival and curates monthly experimental screenings through Film Adjacent, fostering dialogue between avant-garde traditions and local audiences.
