Biography

Tyler Shane Tesolin is a filmmaker, poet, and researcher whose work navigates poetry, translation, and experimental cinema traditions. Born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, and trained at York University (MA, Cinema and Media Studies), Tesolin has dedicated his practice to "research-creation" model—treating image creation as a form of philosophical inquiry.

His cinematic output spans over a decade, highlighted by the feature film Planet Sarajevo, which premiered in the BH program at the 2020 Sarajevo Film Festival. His work has since been exhibited across Canada and Aotearoa New Zealand. Beyond the screen, Tesolin is a prolific voice in contemporary poetics and theory; he is the author of the experimental manifestoThe Poetry of our Future and three collections of poetry, including the forthcoming Barking Under the Sighing Tree.

Currently based in Wellington, New Zealand, Tesolin recently completed his PhD at Victoria University, where his research investigated Ezra Pound’s poetics and experimental media. A pillar of the local arts community, he serves as co-director of the Aotearoa Poetry Film Festival and curates monthly experimental screenings through Film Adjacent, fostering a vital dialogue between global avant-garde traditions and local audiences.
